ANNOUNCING THE #JUSTONECHALLENGE

We here at Go Be More believe that big changes start with the smallest of steps. We called this blog One Small Step because as important as goals and dreams are, success is fundamentally about making steady progress. And that progress can come in many forms: learning, working, doing, trying, and especially joining.

The best way to get started is to start small. And the best way to create change is to build toward it, one small step at a time. It’s easy to get caught up in the big goal, or the distant dream. But it’s more effective to get started, no matter how small the steps we take are.

That’s why we’re excited to announce the Go Be More #JustOneChallenge, where we’re doing Just One push-up a day for 30 days. That’s right. Just One.

Now, you’re probably thinking, “Just one push-up? Are they serious?”

We admit it. One push-up isn’t going to make you a future Mr. Olympian.

And no. It’s not going to give you Brad Pitt’s triceps from the movie Troy.

I mean, if we’re being honest, it’s not even going to make you sweat.

But it is going to work. Even better than you imagine.

Unlike setting a huge goal—lose 15 pounds, go to the gym 3x week, read 3 books per month, get Brad Pitt’s troy-ceps—we aren’t trying to create an arbitrary result. We’re focused on creating a system: a healthy routine that builds a foundation for success.

The #JustOne Challenge works because:

  • It is productive, it makes you better

  • It is reasonable, you can do it

  • It is enjoyable, a small victory with friends to start your day

  • It focuses on consistency, which is central to long-term success, and

  • It involves learning and positive feedback, which we share together on Instagram

In short, the #JustOneChallenge will create a habit of exercise.

And building a habit is by far the hardest step. Once you’ve done Just One push-up every day for 30 days, you won’t have any problem turning that into five, or ten, or twenty. Or following it with some light exercise. Or just choosing a healthier beverage. The routine will already be there. The commitment will already be there. And if you do it with us, the community will be there, too.

That’s actually the best part: you don’t have to do it alone. We’ll do it with you! Our entire Go Be More community will do it with you. Connect with us on Instagram. Then every morning, Jon will go live and do the push-up with you. He typically talks for one or two minutes, sharing an inspirational story or an idea to Go Be More, and then we do the push-up together. There’s no better way to build a habit than to do it with other like-minded people.
